Porsche 911 Cabriolet — Silver to Satin Black

A silver 911 Cabriolet taken to satin black with a full chrome delete, wrapped panel by panel in our Tomball bay. Reversible, and the factory paint is untouched underneath.

What the job involved

Silver hides nothing and satin forgives nothing, so the prep mattered more than usual — every panel decontaminated and inspected before film went near it. Handles, badges and trim came off so the film wraps behind the edges rather than stopping at them, which is the difference between a wrap that still looks laid-on in three years and one that lifts at the first pressure wash.

The chrome delete ran alongside it: window surrounds, badges and lower trim taken to the same satin so the car reads as one finish rather than a wrap with brightwork fighting it.

What we would tell the next 911 owner

Satin shows technique
Every stretch mark and over-heated seam is visible on a satin finish in a way gloss hides. If you want satin, look closely at a shop’s edges before you book.
Keep it out of tunnels
A brush wash will scuff satin film in one pass and there is no polishing it back. Hand wash only, with a satin-safe soap.
The chrome delete is what sells it
A colour change with the brightwork left bright never quite lands. Budget for both or do neither.
